Real Madrid continues its Champions League journey on Wednesday when it visits the Czech Republic to take on Viktoria Plzen for the group stage’s fourth matchday. Los Blancos are looking to reverse their fortunes since the departure of manager Julen Lopetegui following a poor start to the season.

Los Blancos have failed to win a match in all competitions since September 22, and there will be mounting pressure for the European champions to boost morale ahead of a massive El Clasico clash at Camp Nou this weekend.Los Blancos are struggling in a weak-looking Champions League group having beaten last year’s semi-finalists Roma but then lost at CSKA Moscow.

Real Madrid will look to continue their recent recovery under Santiago Solari on Wednesday when they face Viktoria Plzen in a crucial UEFA Champions League encounter.Following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui, Solari has steered the team to two wins in succession, although they did leave it late on Saturday to overcome Real Valladolid 2-0 in La Liga. Victory here would leave them in a strong position to get out of Group G and into the knockout stages.

Plzen won’t be an easy assignment away from home, though. While they lost 2-1 when these two teams met at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Czech outfit created some clear opportunities and will fancy their chances of doing so again in front of their own supporters.

The Czech champions enter the fixture as underdogs with Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric are all expected to start. Viktoria Plzen are winless so far in Europe and a victory for Real Madrid would all but guarantee their place in the knock-out stages.

Vinicius Junior came off the bench on the weekend against Valladolid to rescue his team, helping Los Blancos to a 2-0 win. The exciting Brazilian youngster has certainly impressed his new manager Santiago Solari and will be pushing to make his first start since joining Real Madrid in the summer. Isco may also return to the front three following Bale and Marco Asensio’s poor display at the weekend.
